Special Olympics New Zealand National Summer Games was happy to be a finalist in the Event Excellence category at the 2010 SPARC Sector Awards but the category winner on the night was 100% PureNZ Winter Games.

However, Special Olympics New Zealand was delighted to receive a special commendation from the judging panel for the National Summer Games event. Peter Dale, on behalf of the judging panel, made special mention to the audience about the way our event was
put together, what we achieved and how it was delivered on a short runway. It was a brilliant
accolade for all the hard work of the team and in particular of Sue Kysow, Special Olympics
